There is a 5K tomorrow morning at Spring Lake Park benefiting Stephanie Haak. For those of you that may not know, Stephanie is Jason’s wife, Eric Smith’s sister, and Arley Smith’s daughter. Stephanie is a warrior waging a battle against breast cancer and I’m betting on her to win! Tomorrow morning we can show her how much we believe in her and her battle by showing up to participate in the 5K by either walking or running…..or both!
The entry fee is $25.00 and registration starts at 8:30 AM followed by the race at 9:00 AM. The Haaks and Smiths are deeply ingrained in the Texarkana Cycling Community and are dear friends to many of us. Please come out and show Stephanie and Jason how much we love them and are fighting with them!
Team Edge has dedicated this racing season to Stephanie. Every time we race, we race for her. Join in our fight!

Here are the results from the Ronde van Burns Crit Series last night at Burns Park in N. Little Rock. This was the 2nd of 4 races in the series.
Men’s Cat 5 (20 minutes + 3 laps)
8th – Harold Myers
Finisher – Justin Magness
Men’s Cat 4/5 (40 minutes + 3 laps)
11th – Chris Ross
12th – Tim Loving
Congratulations to all of the racers from Team Edge, especially Harold Myers for a Top 10 finish and Justin Magness for competing in his first ever bike race. Way to go guys!
The Cat 4 race was very intense with two crashes from blown tires that resulted in riders having a close and personal relationship with the asphalt of Burns Park. The 2nd crash occurred at about the 25 minute mark with the rider directly in front of me. By the grace of God….and superior bike handling skills (ha-ha!)….I was able to avoid a similar fate. But unfortunately, Justin Scurlock (the rider on my wheel) and I were unable to reengage with the field, so our race ended earlier than we planned. The upside is we both left with the same amount of skin we started with! I can’t say that about the other guy. Like I stated earlier, this was a fast race with the average speed just south of 24 mph. I know that my max speed was 32.6 mph. The course is totally flat and approximately .8 mile with 4 right turns and 1 chicane. Plus, it’s normally windy since it is adjacent to the Arkansas River. Yesterday we were battling 12 mph winds. Suffice it to say, it’s a blast…..not counting the crashes. There are 2 more races left and we’d like to have as many as possible attend these races.
GO TEAM EDGE!!!!
