I have to ride to work. It is in my family budget to not spend money on gas to go to work at least 3 days a week. With all the rain lately I was getting miserable. I asked Terry to get me a jacket that would keep me dry so I could stay warm. Our team jackets are cool, but they are not very waterproof as I recently found out!
Enter the Seattle from LG. It was small enough to fold up into a jersey pocket, so I was skeptical. Did Terry not understand me? I needed Heavy duty waterproof and breathable. I found my first oppurtunity to try it out on Oct. 29th after closing the bike shop. If you don’t remenber the weather that day, it was the day the tornado sirens went off and Shreveport got creamed with them. Terry and I checked the weather before I left the shop, NO mention of TORNADOES!!!! just a lot of rain. It was POURING as I went into the bottoms on Summerhill. I rode the whole way to Ashdown in the torrential downpour just grinning. The jacket worked wonderful I was dry on my upper body and warm.
BTW the Ashdown Police said that my lights made me VERY easy to see even in the rain. My wife called them to go get me when she heard the tornado sirens go off! I was wondering what that noise was! If you are going to ride regardless of the weather, get a Seattle from Terry. It will keep you nice and dry. Terry I need some pants like the Jacket!
The Season has ended. Very sad. But I can’t help being very excited about next year! Most of the guys will betaking a few weeks off from structured riding. It is important that you do the same. Take some time to review your season, set your goals, and plan for next year to be better than this one! We will not be having any scheduled rides for the next few weeks since so many will be laying low, however, do not let that stop you from organizing your own rides with others. We will set a schedule soon that will include Saturday rides from the NEW!!!!! bike shop and 6:30pm rides on Tues and Thurs Meeting at Gander Mountain. It will be dark, but the roads there are very well lit. If you have them, bring lights. Tues will be a very relaxed pace ride for all levels and Thurs will be for all levels, but Thurs will also see Team Edge (racers) practicing crits, High intensity stuff! Saturday rides will be slow and easy as we improve our endurance. We will be scheduling some 100+ mile rides in December and January!! Once again we so much look forward to next year and believe it or not, next year starts now with REST!!! See you later!
This Saturday Oct. 10th is the annual Tour de Fireant in Marshall, Texas. Many edgeites will be there! You should too. This ride is well supported and is a great way to support local riding in the area. Hope to see you there!
