We will wrap up the YPYG camps this Saturday with our final exams.  They will be held at the Christus St. Michael Health &  Fitness Center in the form of a VO2 Max test.  Please respond with a comment if you are planning to attend.  Mike needs a list of how many riders to expect.  We will start the tests at 9:00.

Our next Team meeting will be this coming Wednesday evening, July 29th, at 6:00 PM at Timothy’s Grill. Thanks to Tim for always making his place availalbe for us to meet. Not a bad place to hang out, huh? Please make plans to attend this very important meeting as it has to do with the organization and planning of our race, The Little River Challenge, to be held on October 3rd, 2009. WE NEED YOUR HELP!! This will be a massive undertaking and it’s going to take all of us pull it off with excellence. So…plan on showing up and being assigned a job to do. October 3rd is not that far away. GO TEAM EDGE!!!

July Time Trial Results

July Time Trial Results

The results are in and the YPYG workouts have made a dramatic impact on Team Edge.  Looking at the overall results there have been some dramatic improvements that must be recognized.  Chris Ross scored a Top-Ten finish and Ant Riley showed a 3.8 mile-per-hour improvement to turn in her first sub-27:00 effort.

If you haven’t been attending the monthly Time Trials that Texarkana Bicycle Club has been hosting, then you have really been missing out.  They have it incredibly well organized, with mile-markers, split times and even photographers.  It is a great event and we should definitely support it.  T3 showed up en masse this time and brought the total number of riders to 18.  Wow!

Tour de France Party

The Team Time Trial viewing party on Tuesday morning was a rousing success.  Terry had the shop setup for an incredible experience.  From the (fruit-filled) danishes to the cinnamon rolls and Jittery Joe’s java, it was fantastic.  It was the perfect atmosphere for watching the most dramatic Team Time Trial I’ve ever seen.

The overall performances from this season

The overall performances from this season

Terry has volunteered to open up the shop for Friday’s mountain-top finish so I urge you to consider making the effort.  The nearly 5 mile climb up a 7% grade mountain, with no downhill to allow theslower riders to recoup their losses, should provide an excellent backdrop for the GC contenders to start moving to the top of the GC.  Sastre and Evans are going to be desperate and with only three mountain-top finishes in the tour, they won’t be able to let any opportunity’s get away.  If they push the issue, the accelerations are surely going to put Cancellara in trouble.  This could easily leave Lance sitting alone atop the GC standings by the end of the party.  You don’t want to miss this.

YPYG Pre-Race Workout

My friend Phil will be attending YPYG again this weekend and it should be a great workout.  We will once again start at Timothy’s and ride through Hooks and areas north.  We will be concentrating on what will be needed to maintain a place in the peloton next weekend in the Tour de Paris.  Bring your heart rate monitor if you have one and be ready to work.
