Here are the results from Sunday’s Time Trial. We had a total of 8 riders who braved the fierce wind, and of course with my really bad sense of humor, we finished going into the headwind. It was TOUGH!!!!

1st Charles Allen 21:31
2nd Steve Campisi
21:41(after running the half Marathon in the morn.)
3rd Gary Hindi
22:26(he came late, but finished fast)
4th Randy Schmidt 23:46
5th Tim Loving 23:51
6th Kale Magness 23:57
7th Dee Bell 24:19(featuring his first cyclocross TT)
8th Chris Ross 25:18

I really appreciate you guys coming out and hanging tough even in those conditions. For the rest of you it should be warmer on our next ITT which will be in four weeks on March 29th. We will meet at 2:30pm and will start the ITT at 3:00pm. Great Job Guys!!!

Dee

It was great weather Sunday!  I admit, Saturday’s weather was a little damp, but Sunday was beautiful.  I saw someone post that they showed up at Crown and noone was there.  I was there!  I got there right before 2:30 and left at 2:40.  Tim was the only other rider that showed up.  I waited until 9:05 Saturday before I headed out to Genoa and saw nobody. If you got there after 9:05, I’m sorry I left you.  I was getting colder and colder just sitting in the parking lot in the rain.

I think it would be very helpful if people start posting whether or not they are going to make our rides so we know whether or not to wait.   Obviously nothing binding, but it would help Dee plan out the rides.  I encourage you to make the events that we have because riding is the best way to become a better rider.

Dee has asked for volunteers for the last two weekends and there have been very few responses.  There is a Time Trial this weekend that is going to be a lot of work for someone.   I would hate for someone to go set all that up and then have nobody show again.

Sunday morning is the Run-The-Line Half-Marathon, so if you are Team Edge member and are working the race ( as a response to Mike’s request) and aren’t going to be available, I’m sure Dee would love to know.  I was anticipating a lot of Tri-Athletes joining us, but I think they are working the race that morning and they may not have time.   I don’t know where we are riding Saturday, but we will post it as soon as we know!

BTW, if you were in Monroe yesterday, let’s hear about it!

Ultimately, it helps the team to know if there are going to be people at a ride or not.

PLEASE BE AWARE this is a USA Cycling event. Riders cannot have advertising on their jersey, cannot wear sleeveless jerseys, nor can it be a jersey from a different club or pro team. When I raced it was a solid color, with only a small manufacturer logo, that was allowed, when riding unattached or when the kit was not available to wear. When the team jersey is in this problem will not exist. Almost everyone should know also that aerobars are allowed in the time trial, but not in the road race. Anyone who has registered for a license and has not gotten it in the mail, can print out a copy on the USA cycling website. Simple stuff, I just do not want to have anyone make the trip, and find out that they cannot race, or do not have the right stuff to race.

Saturday will be a 3.5 hour endurance ride leaving from 4 states fairgrounds. I need a volunteer for leading the ride and one for bringing up the rear. I have the course maps and will try to have extra copies available for the riders. Awesome ride out to Garland City and back!

Sunday, some of our riders will head to Monroe to test their crit. skills (I’m sorry I won’t be able to make it). The rest of us will have the Sunday WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!!! Once again we will meet at Crown Leasing at 2:30pm. This time if we have enough riders, we will seperate into teams. Even if you feel you are not fast enough, you have to try. Remember this will be our last race for two weeks, because on Sunday March 01 we will have the Time Trial at Hwy 108 at 2:30pm. Can’t wait till this weekend!!!!!

Strongest Man Today Jason Haak

Strongest Man Today Jason Haak

David leads into lap 2
David leads into lap 2

Wow!  What a weekend for Team Edge!  Jason Haak came out and reminded everyone that he still hasn’t lost his form as he took a flyer from way toooo far away and held on to cap off two good days of workouts.

Saturday morning’s ride included Steve, Kale, David, Nick and Bruce C. and featured a nice little ride to Hooks, Leary, Wamba and Summerhill Road.  We got in some practice on bridging gaps and launching attacks and still had time to do some refining on exactly where we find our Lactate Threshold.  It was a great workout and if you weren’t there, you missed some good stuff.

Sunday’s race was a lot more exciting and gave everybody a chance to see what it’s like to hold a tiger by the tail.  The final lap started with David and Gary missing out on a move on Sparks Lane that left Dee, Jason, Steve and an ailing Tim (who is no longer serving ribs at his place) to fight it out for the win.    When Jason made his move with almost a half-mile left (very impressive, dude) the other three riders couldn’t get together quickly enough to run him down.  Steve and Tim finally hooked up at about a quarter-mile left, but after cutting the gap in half, Jason showed what he was made of and finished strong.   Great ride, guys.  All told it played out like this:

  1. Jason Haak
  2. Tim Loving ( with bruised ribs . . . toughman)
  3. Steve Campisi
  4. Dee Bell (after four weeks off with a back injury)
  5. David Magness/Gary Hindi/???
  6. Kale Magness/Arley Smith/???
  7. ????

I’m not positive how the last positions finished so feel free to post any corrections/additions

I need a volunteer for riding with the tail end ths Saturday, anybody??? Also, do not miss this Sunday’s race. It is going to be 4 laps of the Sparks Ln. circuit with the finish on 1397. There will be a real finish line with a camera ready to decide the winner if need be. If you want to do the race, but feel you are not up to it yet, you can race for as long as you want then fall off and wait for the group to lap you, or you can turn around and go watch the finish. If you do get lapped, you can join back in the race if you wish. Hope to see you there.

Also, Jason Ham from Team La’Sport has invited us to thier Wed. night crits. I suggest that we try to do it some.

Dee

We need to get a count of who’s planning on going next weekend to FYF. Please comment back if you plan to attend so we can get a rough idea of how many Team Edge members will be riding.
